Busy Weekend

This weekend my sister is getting (re-) married in Massachusetts.  She and her husband have been married for 20 years.  We took off on Thursday afternoon for the “trip of a lifetime” !

We made it just North of DC when Addison awoke and started SCREAMING – not I have to go potty, not I want to move around…it was blood curdling, non-stop for 10 minutes …”My pee pee hurts!”  I’m sure the motorists on the left (and those on the right – since it was bumper to bumper on the Inner Loop) – could all hear her despite the fact that the windows were closed and the air conditioner was on.

After about 1/2 hour I finally found a place to stop- unfortunately it was a (relatively) nice restaurant that we barged into and just used the bathroom and then left again! The 20 minute break plus several changes of course suggested by the GPS (new toy) helped us to make up the time – though I think it led us into some amazing thunder and rainstorms.  By the time we got into Delaware it was time to eat (and a walk for the driver and the cooped up kids).  We made pretty good time on the NJ Turnpike and arrived at the hotel at around 8 PM – just in time for the kids to release some energy in the pool and hot tub.

In the morning on Friday we got up and ate breakfast and then went back to the pool and then hit the road again.  This time we only stopped once for lunch around 12:30 pm.  We made it to Papa’s house around 2:30 pm.  Unfortunately, my brother’s go-kart is broken and despite having a part flown in overnight yesterday – and 2 hours of changing spark plugs and getting it to charge to life at one time, the spark plug was broken when it was given the final twist in place -UGH!!!

I left the kids with my brother Steve and his 12 year old daughter and my sisters and I went out for a “wedding shower” drink.  It was fun to get out but I wasn’t sure that the house would be standing when I got back! – luckily it was.

This morning I got up and went to get donuts – Honey Dew – is cheaper than Daylight by Far!  I paid $16 for 2 dozen with a large specialty coffee.

The wedding is at 1:30 so I have to get all of us cleaned and dressed.

Tommorrow the trip back starts…pray for me.
