so glad it is the start of my vacation and I get to spend 24 hours a day for 9 days with my kids…ummmmm Ohhhhh NOOOOOOOO!!!!
I’ve had a really tough week. Barely got to my computer at work except to do the electronic notes for the patients I was seeing. Ran back and forth and then back again. It’s always busy when I am trying to arrange for everything for me to be gone but this was way beyond it.
I’ve been short and grumpy with the kids…
I’ve had a migraine that won’t quit…
I’ve woken up from the most vivid nightmares …
And not been able to go back to sleep.
This weekend, I decided that we weren’t going to do anything. The girls had a sleep over at MCV daycare on Friday night and we arrived to pick them up at 8:45 am. Both of the boys and I had a nice dinner and evening at Dave and Buster’s. On the way home, we stopped at the library to get some books for everyone to read this week. On the way home, we stopped a local elementary school so they could play. Riley was being a pill and kept wanting me to get up and push him on this “zip” line like thing. Logan kept yelling and bossing people around and finally I had enough and told her to stop or we were leaving…and then we had to leave. She screamed at the top of her lungs the entire walk to the car and kicked and screamed in the car to the house. I fed them lunch and she and Addison both fell asleep for over 2 hours. I took them to the pool after naps but by that time my migraine was making me nauseated and I stopped at McD’s cuz I couldn’t even think about cooking.
This morning I woke up with my headache gone (yea!) and set the kids to cleaning their rooms. Meanwhile I started on the kitchen – which was beyond gross. There was a ton of arguing and finally the rooms were picked up and I got breakfast on the table. More fighting ensued when I made them clean the cubby area of the living room and ultimately they all got sent to their rooms to play quietly while I finished cleaning downstairs. Then I went outside to clean the van and fill the (flat) tire with air. By the time it was lunch I was beat.
We had quiet time and the girls slept and we got dressed to go to the pool and the batting cages. I had promised Riley that we could go batting. It started raining on the way there but when we got there, it was clear over that area so I let him do that for about 1/2 hour. As we drove by the pool, it had been closed while we were batting. We went home to get the pool pass and when we got back they were letting people in.
Addison has totally become a swimmer. No more fear…turning summersaults in the water, full of herself. It is nice because I don’t have to get in the water right near her and actually brought a book to the pool. The 3 older ones spent the hour and 1/2 diving from the diving boards. At dinnertime, it started thundering so we went home.
Tomorrow is a busy day. we have the boys tutoring at 7:30 am. Then we have to bring the van to the shop to have a tire looked at that has been losing air. Then we have to take Logan to the pediatrician’s office to get her finger stick for blood work before school. Depending on how hot and what else is going on, we may go to the zoo.
Tuesday I have to work in the morning. My friend Debra is going to bring her kids over my house and stay with all 8 of them while I see patients and then we will do something – not quite sure what yet.
Wednesday we are heading to VA Beach. I have a medical conference that I am registered for that starts on Friday am (but I will probably only go to the conference on Saturday and Sunday). we will meet up with my Aunt Clare on the way and then the kids and I will have Wed, Thurs and Friday to play on the beach. I’m looking forward to it…well, except the 24 hours a day with my kids – at a hotel – here’s hoping it will be okay.
