One more thing…

…that’s all it would take to push me over the deep end.  Really, maybe I am just getting too old for this.

Last night Riley comes up to me, drops his drawers and says…”Mom, is this a pimple?”  Well…yes…but it is at the site of his previous butt splinter!  UGH it is infected –again!  He immediately starts freaking out …begging me to not touch it, not pop it, not do anything.  Finally  I just decide to let him go take some of the antibiotics from the last infection and send him to bed.

In the middle of the night, Addison starts coughing and coughing and coughing.  I got her up to give her a drink but she wouldn’t so I put her back to bed.  she didn’t have a fever so I could hope…

We get up and the “pimple” is bigger and there is some more crying but I just send him to the medicine and we head to school/work.  At 10 am I got a call from the daycare…thought it was going to be about Riley or Addison but no! it is about Matthew who had, apparently, stuffed a bead up his nose and …they have looked but they cannot tell if it is out or not.

So, I was worried about what I would find this afternoon.  Overall it has turned out okay.  Matthew doesn’t have a bead in his nose …well, unless it is in his posterior nasopharynx.

Addison isn’t coughing at all so maybe it was ? well I don’t know but I’m not fighting it.

Riley was very worried and so asked me to look at his pimple.  I had to promise not to touch or squeeze it.  At this point, the skin was open and I thought (but wasn’t sure with my old lady eyes) that there was something brown in there.  He gradually felt a little comfortable and I was able to scrap the top of the lesion and finally saw a thin brown stick which I was able to grab and pull out…3/4 of an inch long.  Can’t believe that it had been stuck in there.   There is a possibility that there is more…but I am not sure what to do about that…hopefully we will get it undercontrol.

So, the good news is that we seem to not have 3 kids who need time off from school.  the bad news…well there may be more splinters! UGH!
